HARMAN’S CHEESE & COUNTRY STORE, SUGAR HILL, 1955

Maxine and Brenda Aldrich, Proprietors

The following excerpts have been taken from the advertising flyer that was written for the customer to enjoy about Harman’s Country Store’s history:

In 1954, John and Kate Harman retired from life in New York and bought a small general store in Sugar Hill to start a mail order business. Cheese was their business, so Mr. Harman bought a half ton of aged cheddar cheese and started his “World’s Greatest Cheddar Cheese” tradition. This move was no mistake, for they sell over twelve tons of Harmon’s Really-Aged Cheddar each year.

The Harmon’s loved their customers and their business—always enjoying chatting with them personally. Should a customer be dissatisfied, a replacement or refund was offered. The customer came first with John and Kate Harmon.
